Friendly v Outlaws CC News 11/30/14

This sunday 11/30/14  Hustlers 2 CC will play a friendly game against Outlaws CC from Div 1 in preparation for their semi final game the following week.

The game is scheduled to be played at Tamarac Sports Complex for a 12 30pm start time.

All players are to be reminded to show up with enough money to fill up the large red floating cooler Mohan has adopted for the past couple of sundays. Anybody thinking of bringing some cutters are more than welcome as well as the most important item...... bags of ICE.

Birthday celebrations and cake donations are also welcome to the fortunate ones adding another run to their score.

The picture below is what we expect to be wearing when batting against the fiery pace attack of the Outlaws bowling lineup. If you feel the need for extra padding, feel free to visit Home Depot and purchase some protection and allow your fellow team mates to borrow when you are done with it.

Enough protection ?
See you sunday guys......

A Message for LHCC.

Pitch carvery just for you on bended knee.....

Rumours around town are that LHCC are already asking the league to change the semi final venue to suit them rather than playing at our home ground and us to give up home field advantage.

The picture above shows a league finals day cricket pitch preparation on a soccer field at the beginning of the year.If this is good enough for a League final then our pitch is looking like Lords Cricket Ground right now compared to this finals ground and it's preparation.

If this is good enough for the league final then there is nothing really to complain about.

Quarter Final Result - Hustlers 2 beat Vikings CC

The Hustlers 2 team put in their best performance of the season so far against Vikings CC to get a comprehensive win against the top side in Zone B yesterday at the quarter final round stage. Nobody thought the H2 team was capable of a victory after struggling most parts of the season with lack of players and bad form but as it turned out, they won when it mattered.

Hustlers lost the toss and were glad that the Vikings skipper sent them into bat first. After a reasonable first 13 overs, the Hustler team had scored 73 for the loss of 1 wicket. Johnno was the batsmen out for 20.

The H2 batsmen knew they would have to post at least another 100 runs in the next 12 overs against the very dangerous Vikings CC batting lineup to stand a chance and as it turned out, they posted another 120 runs with Chris 67, Altaf 49 no, and Ravi 32 batting with skill and power when needed.

Vikings got off to the worst possible start in their run chase as they lost 5 quick wickets upfront. After 10 overs they were at 52 for 6 and apart from one good over they knew that one of their remaining batsman would have to score quickly and big if they were to win.

After the break Vikings lost 2 wickets in one over bowled by Mohan and with that their already slim chance of pulling off a win disappeared. The final wicket was taken in the 19th over by a Cliff and Johnno combo to see Vikings all out with 114 on the board.

The wickets were shared around by the H2 bowling attack of Terry 4 for 40, Mohan 3 for 22, Amar 2 for 16, and Cliff 1 for 14 who all bowled well throughout the game.

The next game scheduled is in 2 weeks time when H2 face Lehigh CC in the division semi final to be played at The Yard.

Match Highlights

Chris 67
Altaf 49 no
Ravi 32
Terry 4 for 40
Mohan 3 for 22
Amar 2 for 16
Cliff 1 for 14

Double Header News

The first game saw Hustlers 2 lose to a very good Unlimited team.
Unlimited scored 232 in their 25 overs and bowled us out in 18 overs to get a very good win.

Match highlights.

And that's about it.

The second game saw Hustlers 2 take on Lehigh Indians in what turned out to be a thriller of a game.
The Hustlers players were already sore from the early fixture and only had 9 players to play the game.

Luckily Hustlers won the toss and batted first with Debbie, playing her 2nd game of the day, opening the innings with Chris, while the rest of the team sat back and took a rest.

Hustlers got off to a fast start and went to the break at 84 for 0. Debbie on 20 not out and Chris 56 not out.
The second 12 overs saw Hustlers pile up the runs as they amassed 215  with Chris 75, Ravi 71 not out and Debbie 24 the main contributors.

Lehigh started well and were soon hitting boundaries and went to their own break at an impressive 131 for 1. Chief batsmen for Lehigh were Jamal 68 and Omarnauth Churaman 57.The next 12 overs saw Hustlers get important wickets when needed and managed to win by 14 runs in a close contest as the Lehigh impressive run chase fizzled out. Cliff was the standout bowler with 3 wickets for 10 runs who changed the game in H2 favour with his unorthodox leg spin round arm doosra carrum ball pelts.

Match Highlights
Chris 75
Ravi 71 no
Debbie 24'
Cliff 3 for 10

Next week the playoffs start with Hustlers 2 playing the number 1 seed Vikings at Tamarac Recreation Center.

Double Header Sunday

Hustlers 2 will play 2 games this coming sunday to finish off the regular season schedule.

First of all they will play Unlimited CC at 9am followed by Lehigh in the afternoon with both games to be played at the Yard.

Two games for anybody on the same day is tough but for Hustlers 2 and their aging squad, it will be even tougher. Not only will we have fatigue issues but we will have an even bigger problem with what time to load the coolers up. Will the ice last or melt before the second game is over? Will the drinks outlast the ice? These really are big questions for us.

Two sets of food means two rounds of eating for us as well. Two sessions of after match liquid refreshments means our average intake of liquids will double meaning our friendly neighbourhood store owner will be banking some extra dollars from us this sunday.

Whatever way we look at this coming sunday and how tough it will be for us, we will do our best to honor both games and try and drink moderately in our 12 hour timeframe.

Hustlers 2 v Guyana Heat Round 8 Match Report

Round 8 of the Div 2 fixtures saw Hustlers 2 head over to Wellman Fields to play against Guyana Heat with both teams looking for a win to keep them both in playoff contention in their respective divisions.

The day started off with rain showers all morning meaning the game start time would have to be delayed which was agreed by both captains.

12 15pm saw 10 Hustler players at the ground waiting for a break in the rain and only 1 player from Guyana Heat on his cellphone calling his players asking what time they will be arriving at the ground.
The Hustler skipper said we both would wait for the rain to stop and also would not claim the toss or the game, which Hustlers had every right to do so considering only 1 player from Guyana Heat was at the ground, due to the fact he was giving GHeat every opportunity to go ahead with the game and play within the spirit of the game. No overs were to be deducted as well.

1 30pm arrived and Guyana Heat only had 6 players at the ground but with more on the way, Hustlers skipper allowed the toss of the coin which he lost as Guyana Heat decided they would bat first even though they still did not have enough players at the ground to constitute a start to the game. More time was allowed by Hustlers for the remainder of the Guyana Heat players to show up and once 7 players were present, they went ahead with the start of the game with no rain falling.

The conditions were damp but very playable as the game started and after 21 overs, Guyana Heat were bowled out for 125.

Hustlers went to bat at 3 35pm and got off to a flying start as they quickly reached 29 for 0 after 2.5 overs were bowled. This is when it started to rain lightly and as soon as the rain started, the Guyana Heat opening bowlers said they were going off the field because they said the conditions were too dangerous for them. They didn't even ask the umpires for a ruling and what they thought or even confer with the batsmen. They just simply walked off.

The Guyana Heat players then left the field and instead of waiting for the rain to stop, which it did within 20 minutes and never rained again until we left the park around 6pm, they all apart from their captain, ate their food and then got into their cars and left the ground with no intention of going back out on the field to play. Over 2 hours of no rain falling from the time they left the field that could have been used to bowl the 10.1 overs or even complete the entire innings was not used by the Guyana Heat players.

The Guyana Heat team opening bowlers did not show any intention of completing the game after their bowling was dismissed with ease in the first couple of overs as they knew the only winner of this game was going be Hustlers.

We of course will be seeing how the league rules on this game as we will be claiming the win due to the fact that Guyana Heat had no intention of seeing out the game even when the rain had stopped. A few of the Guyana Heat players were also embarrassed by the way the game finished due to the fact their opening bowlers left the park within 20 minutes of walking off the field. The light would not have been a problem either as the floodlights all came on to light up the whole playing field for the game to continue or at least to bowl another 10.1 overs to get a result.

Div 2 Zone B Table

With 3, 4 or maybe even 5 games to go before the regular season ends, Hustlers 2 CC somehow still find themselves second in their zone after losing 3 games already this season.

With half their team on their way to Guyana this weekend for the Guyana Tournament, the league schedule has meant the game for Round 6 would still be played this coming sunday or rescheduled for a friday night at our expense. ( Good job by the league fixture sec once again !!!!).

I guess we will have to reschedule for a friday night being there is no bye week this season as per usual and hope the opposing team agree to an evening fixture. If not, then I guess we lose 6 points.

Hustlers lose to Miami Royals

Hustlers latest game in Round 4 resulted in a loss with all bowlers from both sides taking some serious tap in a high scoring game at The Yard.

Hustlers won the toss and elected to bat first in temperatures hitting somewhere near furnace degrees.
The Hustler openers scored at over 10 an over before Johnno was first out in the 5th over with the score at 53.

Hustlers went to the 13th over break sitting nicely at 100 for 2 and in a good position to score heavily in the second half. Skipper Basil contributed a swashbuckling 73 not out in the next 12 overs with Ravi scoring a more workmanlike 36 before he was out tired and drained looking for something cold to drink and by the look of things somewhere to take a nap as well. Hustlers skip Basil showed his class with an array of leg side shots effortlessly clipped over mid wicket for 5 maximums on his way to his highest score this season in his destructive undefeated innings of 73.

The final Hustler total was an impressive 224 for 5 off the 25 overs faced.

Miami Royals set off on their run chase with Altab batting aggresively and was soon finding the middle of his bat  regulary and soon passed 50 in quicktime. He was the dominant batsman for Miami in the first 13 overs as he helped his team to a superb 143 for the loss of only 3 Miami wickets. The Hustler bowlers tried to bowl flat, quickly and accurately but were no match for the dominating Altab as their bowling disappeared even quicker and more accurately over the boundaries every over all too often.

Altab reached an impressive and chanceless 105 before he was out as the Miami run chase ended with almost 2 overs to spare to get the win and the 6 points.

Miami deserved the win as they were the better side as all the Hustler bowlers all took some serious wood even though some of them still admit they bowled well. The Hustler bowlers gave up a combined total of 16 sixes and 15 fours when they bowled their 23 overs to go with 16 wides. A bad day at the office for the Hustler bowling attack was the most over used phrase after the game by them all.  Looking for excuses such as the bad pitch, the bowling run up, the ball, the sun, the food, the drinks couldn't save any of them from their limitless array of "hit me as far as you can" balls served up by the lacklustre Hustlers bowlers .( I guess they were at a different game from what I witnessed !!! ).

Congratulations to Miami for a well played win but bigger congratulations go out to our very own Hustler Devya for becoming the Divali Nagar 2014 Champion. Well done Devya for making us all proud of you for all the hard work you put in to accomplish your achievement. Good job.

Some Hustler players were last seen preparing the bowlers run up in the dark at the Yard while others were restocking the very small coolers.
Proud father Terry & Devya.

Hustlers 2 beat Diamond CC in Round 3

Anyone can guess the combined age of the players shown here?
Hustlers 2 CC met Diamond CC in round 3 of the SFSCL this past sunday and came away with a hard fought win.

Having bowled out the 10 man Diamond team for 138 within 25 overs after being 74 for 0 at one stage, the Hustler run chase stuttered in chasing down this below average score losing far too many wickets before getting the win with an over to spare.

The Hustlers bowling attack was led by the returning King who grabbed 5 wickets for 25 runs after his 3 season self imposed exile. The other notable bowling performance came from Terry who ended up with 2 wickets.

The Hustlers lengthy batting lineup could arguably be called the most experienced lineup in the entire Division but the way they collapsed upfront was cause for concern before skipper Basil and the returning exile King saw their team home with individual scores of 41 and 36 not out respectively to get the 6 points and win.

At the end of the game the usual futile banter and story telling continued as per norm late into the evening as the Hustler players enjoyed their hard fought victory. If they want to see out the final season of the year with a strong season then they better improve on their performances so far.

It was also good to see Lloyd at the game and looking strong again. Keep up the good work Lloyd as your recovery is going well by the looks of things as well as our very own Deo after his self imposed break from the game due to family commitments.

It was great catching up with the Hustler oldies returning back for a game which meant our average team player number went up another 5 years.....

Any Ideas ?

Listed below are the 2 respective Zones for the Divisions 2 teams for this Fall season.

Zone A and Zone B with 8 teams each.

Can someone explain to us how come we find ourselves topping the Zone B when 99% of the teams we are scheduled to play this season come from Zone A?

Any input or explanation from our followers would gladly clear our already confused heads......

In return Wildfire fell short of their run chase by 22 runs with Terry taking 3 wickets.

Hustlers v Warriors Report

A full squad Warriors claimed the toss and invited Hustler 2 to field first in overcast conditions. With only seven players and limited bowling resource, skipper Basil decide to open the bowling. After 3 hostile overs of swing and pace, the batting side were tottering at 8 for 3, with all 3 wickets to the skipper ( Shazam, Fizul, Bissoon). The batting team was let off the hook at that stage after the skipper couldn't bowl another ball let alone a whole over because of cramps, which needs on field attention and a lot of fluids. Warriors eventually made 119 all out within their allotted 25 overs. Amar and Reteesh shared the other wickets with John effecting two spectacular run outs behind the stumps.

Hustlers opened with John and Ravi in their chase and lost John early. Reteesh promoted to number 3 made a quickfire 15 before he was bowled by no other than Catfish. It was an even contest between the two good friends. Reteesh bowled Catfish as well but not before he got a few lusty blows in. After taking some miracle fluids, the skipper was back to full fitness came in next, he and Ravi see their team home with ease, ending on 124 for 2 in 16 overs. Basil 35 and Ravi 63 not out respectively.

It was a bitter sweet victory after the Finals lost to Warriors. Whilst this game cannot compare to a finals, it's a win nonetheless and even sweeter with 7 players after the toss was claimed.

After the game, it was the usual hang out until all coolers were empty, then came a refill with some chicken cutters, and off course the banter.

The Hustler boys were last seen at Tropics.

Hustlers 2 lastest roundup from Div 1

Hustlers 2 CC have found it hard trying to compete in Div 1 this season and have so far failed to win one game after playing 6 games.

Losses to Outlaws, Hustlers 1, Hurricanes, Diamond, United, and Superkings  have seen their league position at the bottom of the league for most of the season.

Not is all lost though as the Hustler squad still manage to put out a team every sunday of various abilities, to try and compete with the other sides rather than giving the easy option of a walkover.

With only 2 games left before the end of the summer season, the Hustler 2 squad will look forward to at least getting a win against Warriors or Raiders, which is still possible.

Sporadic individual performances have come in most games this season but collectively our team is under performing in all departments from our experienced players. Either way, the Hustler team players still find time to enjoy the game and more importantly enjoy the bigger game after the game has finished.

Two more games guys and then we can relax and regroup for next season.

Hustlers lose Div 2 Final to Warriors CC

Hustlers with their runner up Trophy
Warriors 200 for7 in 25 overs
Hustlers 163 for 6 in 25 overs

Hustlers lose by 38 runs.

The game itself was played in the right spirit with both teams vying for the Championship Trophy and as it turned out, Warriors batted, fielded, and bowled better collectively than Hustlers to claim the win.

The Hustlers team can still be pleased with the season they had to reach the Final as they played good cricket all the Spring season. It just happened that they left their worse performance for the final and let themselves down. The Hustler players still stayed back after the game to take a few cold ones well into the evening with their followers.

Runners up
During the off season Hustlers will see a few big changes in regards to their playing numbers as some of the players have decided to go elsewhere to play their cricket for other sides. Some new faces are already pencilled into the squad and we will welcome them. We would like to wish them all the best wherever they end up to our leaving players.

Congratulations once again to Manny and his Warriors squad for their win as we now look forward to playing in Div 1 next season.

Ground preparation with a knife on hands and knees !!!

Dillon with the Runner Up Trophy
Meanwhile in the other Div final, Hustlers 1 got beaten by a very strong United team.
