SCI at the Florida Cup 2015

SCI 2015
The SCI squad tried their hardest in the Florida Cup this past weekend but came up short against 3 very good sides in their group. New York, SFSCL, and Orlando all beat the SCI squad in the 20 over competition meaning that any chance of a semi final appearance was ended in the morning of day 2.

Even though we fell well short of competing against the better teams, we still managed to play the game in the right spirit, enjoyed catching up with old friends, and more importantly were still able to play the game with a smile all weekend.

The Allstar Champions were Zameers Allstars and in the Master competition the Betterhope team gained revenge from last year by beating the SFSCL league.

Hustlers beat Vikings CC

Hustlers 237 for 9
Vikings 161 all out

Hustlers won their last regular season game against the very much younger, Vikings CC team yesterday to finish with 3 wins for the Spring season. The 3 wins was not enough to see them reach the playoff stage and the Hustlers now have a month off to regroup and drink a few more beers in their downtime before the summer season commences.

Not sure if Ravi has this shot in his locker anymore but it still looks good in practice.
Cliffy adjusting and ready for some sweep action

Hustlers win against Warriors

Warriors
149 all out

Hustlers
150 for 6

Hustlers finally got their second win of the season against the younger Warriors side yesterday.

Warriors batted first first and were bowled out for 149 with birthday boy, Retesh, the best bowler for Hustlers with figures of 4 for 24. Ravi claimed 3 cheap wickets as well as Mohan. The most unlucky bowler was once again the dangerous, Bayo.

With a relatively small total to chase, Hustlers soon found themselves in trouble once again with 3 quick wickets gone with not more than 25 on the board. More wickets tumbled at one end with only Ravi making batting look easy as he raced to a fluent 50 plus score. With 5 wickets gone Chris came to the wicket batting at number 7 and went about scoring a quickfire 27. He was the last man out before Bayo and Ravi scored the winning runs to see H2 home and win by 5 wickets.

The much talked about long batting lineup for Hustlers 2 maybe on paper a good statement to make but in reality the tail has been starting as early as the number 4 batsman is out recently. Batsmen need to stop giving their wickets away with loose shots if this H2 outfit is going to get back to their winning ways. Far too long now, the experienced batsmen are all throwing their wickets away playing reckless shots and then finding an excuse to blame everything else rather than looking at the reason why they are getting themselves out on a regular basis. It's about time the middle order start showing up sooner rather than later and start scoring runs in a consistent manner for this team to improve on this seasons dismal performances. At present a lot of the batsmen are out of form or are batting with reckless abandonement with no plan on how to accumalate an innings score.

Next week H2 face Vikings CC in their final game of the season at the Yard.

Highlights
Ravi 67 not out
Chris 27

SCI in Orlando Cup 2015 Update

SCI Squad
The SCI squad performed well in Orlando this last weekend and came back as all time Champions in various categories.

They came away as Champions of the team that went to bed last, the Champion team that closed down  bars, the Champion team that beat the dance floor, as well as the Champion team that enjoyed the trip the most.

Overall it was an enjoyable 3 day comp that went well except for the small matter of the results. Played 3 won 1 and lost 2 was the final outcome for the SCI squad.
Even though we did not advance out of the group stages, we all managed to accomplish what we intended, which was to play and promote the game in it's best interests as well as bringing the SCI good name to Orlando. Not only did we do all of this but we all had great fun with players catching up on old friends and family and sharing a good joke or two.

We would like to thank the Orlando Cricket league for allowing us to compete in their competition and wish them all the best for future tournaments as well as our very own Amar Singh for all the hard work he went through for the last 6 months trying to organise his squad of players.
