Hustlers lose to Diamond in Round 8

Hustlers 2 lost their last league game against Diamond CC played last sunday.

Both sides needed wins to progress for an outside chance of a playoff postion and Diamond triumphed with Hustlers losing too many wickets chasing a score of 154 in the first 13 overs faced.

Hustlers in the first half bowled well upfront and restricted the Diamond batters to 86 for 7 at 13 overs. They however recovered in the next 12 and finished with a respectable 154 all out.

Hustlers got off to a bad start as they lost Chris, Cliff, Rasheed, Mukesh, and Ravi with no more than 50 on the board. Some late hitting by Sanjeev and Keshore was still not enough as they fell short by 40 runs in their run chase.

Generally it was a very poor batting performance by the Hustler batsmen as they all seemed to implode when trying to hit good balls for boundaries.

Patience is what was lacking by the senior batsmen and this will have to change in their next game against Renegades if they are to see out the season positively.

Next sunday's game is against Renegades at Southridge.

Hustlers 2 next game....

Hustlers 2 CC meet Diamond CC at 19th street this coming sunday in Round 8 of the SFSCL.

The Diamond team have just come off a loss against Lehigh CC and now find themselves in a crunch league game against us looking for a win to get back into a playoff position.

Hustlers 2 CC will need to play at their best to make sure Diamond come away with a loss or they themselves may be struglgling to gain a playoff position.

This sunday's game will be a must win for both sides and should be a very competive game for all parties concerned.

The spectators who wish to come out and watch a good contest are more than welcome to attend for a 12 30pm start at Lauderhill Middle School.

Chris Gayle destructive 20/20 batting....

100 not out

101 off 44 balls faced

92 off 40 balls faced

Twenty 20 cricket at it's best from Chris Gayle

Which is the better recent one day innings ?

Sachin Tendulkar's 200 not out

Virender Sehwag's 219

I would say Tendulkar's was a better innings as he never gave a chance whereas Sehwag got dropped 5 times.

Either way, both players still played superbly to reach the magic 200 mark in a 50 over game.

System didn't back me in the past - Marlon Samuels

Marlon Samuels has said he didn't get the selectors' backing in the first decade of his career even though he had some good runs with the bat. Samuels has experienced a revival in his career after being reinstated in the team in 2011, culminating in the Man-of-the-Match winning performance in the World Twenty20 final earlier this month.

"I will insist that I wasn't allowed to [live up to my potential]," Samuels told the Indian Express. "I have had some good runs with the bat in the past too. But the system back home didn't let me build on them. I wasn't selected consistently enough."

"They're trying to back me again since my return. That's what they should have done back in 2002. Nevertheless, it's never too late. I am a survivor. A fighter. And once the sun rises from the darkness, the rainbow I see is red, green and gold."

Samuels was banned for two years in 2008 for "receiving money, or benefit or other reward that could bring him or the game of cricket into disrepute". Before the suspension, his average crossed the 30-mark only in ODIs. In the thirteen Tests since his return, he has averaged 50.25 and has also improved his ODI and Twenty20 averages. He has struck three centuries in all formats since his return.
