Hustlers beat Miami Royals in Round 2

Hustlers beat Miami Royals by 26 runs in round 2 yesterday to get their first win of the Fall season.

Derek, Mo, Jai, & John.
Having won the toss, Hustlers decided to bat first and lost Chris, John, and Mike early on before a solid partnership firstly, between Ravi and Keshore followed by another excellent partnership between (Mr Classic) Ravi and skipper Basil saw the Hustler post a score of 170 for 8 in their 25 overs faced. It was another fine batting masterclass from the Classic Batsman's bat as well as some solid looking shots from our skipper. They both batted like true stalwarts of the game with some clean hitting, some crazy running, and plenty of water breaks to keep them going..

Ravi 52 and Basil 51 not out were the chief run scorers for Hustlers. Keshore did his usual middle order performance, looking fantastic in some shots he played as well as looking like a butcher with some full air shot swings of his blade also.

Miami knew they would have to get off to a fast start early on and were helped by some wayward bowling by the Hustler bowlers. Retesh was top of the tree with his bowling exploits. Every week this young guy learns his trade with patience, and great listening skills from the experienced old timers. He has come on leaps and bounds with the Hustler team and every week he just keeps getting better as a cricketer. Other youngsters around the league should bide their time, just like Retesh did at Hustlers, and show their team mates what they are capable of doing on the pitch, rather than talking a brilliant game off it and all their great cricketing stories when in reality they have a long way to go about even being recognised as a cricket around the league.

Amar came back at the end and redeemed himself with 2 miserly overs and was backed up by the one legged Mohan who bowled an immaculate 5th over and Terry. With 30 needed off the last over for victory, Ravi (one leg replacement needed as well), did his best to stifle the boundaries and gave away 3 runs to see Hustlers win by 27 runs.

The Hustler sqaud enjoyed the after match liquid refreshments well past the game end and all headed off homeward bound after a very long day at the Yard. We would like to wish Sunil and his Miami team all the best for the rest of the season as they once again proved that they are a tough test for us whenever we play against each other. They also play in the right manner on the field with dignity and great sportmanship.

It was a much needed win for Hustlers who now are off and running on the points board with 6.

Next week they face Breakaway CC at 21st street.

  3. Mr Classic decided to imitate a deep sea diver diving in at the crease one time. His dive was in slow motion and only 2 days late.....haha

  4. The skipper wasn't taking any chances with the running, so he decided to clear the boundaries. Some massive sixes from his big blade.

    Watch out breakaway!!
