Hustlers 2 cool off Guyana's Heat

Hustlers 2 met Guyana Heat in round 3 of the SFSCL this past sunday and managed to overhaul the Heat's 163 score after looking out of the game at the halfway stage of the run chase.

Having won the toss, Hustlers invited Guyana Heat to bat first and were soon making inroads into the Heat's batting lineup.
Run outs took care of both opening batsmen for the Heat with Michael and Ravi assisting.

The outfielding was good in parts too with Michael and Rasheed pulling off fine catches out in the deep.

Mukesh bowling with pace and swing accounted for 3 wickets, Ravi 2 wickets, and Terry also grabbed 2 wickets to see the Guyana Heat team being bowled out for 163.

Hustlers got off to a bad start in their run chase, losing Cliff, Ravi, Mukesh, Rasheed, and Keshore with only 36 on the board. At the break the score was 70 for 5. Chris on 38 not out and Basil 10 not out.

Hustlers knew when they came back out for the final 12 they would have to score at over 9 an over to win and quickly lost Basil when he swung at a straight one for 10. The score now read 93 for 6 and then the game changed as two big overs helped the cause for Hustlers, as firstly Chris and then Mohan set about the Heat's bowlers. Mohan (Classic Woodman Batsman), batted like a champion again as he sent two big sixes over the mid wicket boundary but going for a third, he was bowled for a quickfire 24.

Amar came to bat next and showed that he still has some fight in his bat too as he clubbed a big six over mid wicket. It all came down to needing 13 off the last 3 overs and this is when Hustlers finally breathed a sigh of relief as Chris steadied the innings and put away the bad bowling. He finished on 78 not out as the Hustler squad celebrated their victory with 9 balls to spare.

Overall a win is a win but there is a lot of work the Hustler batsmen need to do. Loose shots were the downfall for most of the outs and more application is needed from a couple of the senior batsmen who at times let their aggresive nature take control of them rather than using their heads and playing each ball on merit.

The big crowd watching the game all enjoyed the game with added excitement right up until the end as the Hustler team pulled off an amazing run chase after half the team was out before the 13th over break.

Match Highlights
Chris 78 not out
Mohan 24
Amar 13 not out

Mukesh 3 for 27
Terry 2 for 13
Ravi 2 for 34

Next week the game is against Raiders CC at Margate. 12 30pm start
