Hustlers 2 have already got the win and 6 points for their next scheduled game against Takers CC after the side from Lehigh called in and gave the walkover win.
It is always sad when a team gives a walkover for one reason or another and we at Hustlers appreciate the early call today rather than leaving it to the last minute and not showing up.

Walkovers in the SFSCL generally come towards the end of the regular season when teams have nothing to play for and their players have no motivation to honor the fixture. This is something the league needs to look into as future walkovers in future seasons does impact other teams who are all playing to make a playoff.
The league has to come up with a better solution other than fining teams for a non showing.
Take the 6 points and rest Hustlers. A team from Lehigh couldn't be bothered to drive so far to take a beating. I didn't expect anything else but there are teams who can't even travel to west palm to play from miami so I guess the walkover virus is contagious.....
ReplyDeleteHaving 1 team from Lehigh was acceptable but 3 is being stupid. This league is called SFSCL......not North America Softball League. 2 of the lehigh teams can't even raise a side and one of them can't even win a game. If they want to play in the SFSCL....let them drive everyweek to south florida and not force teams to go there. Leave it up to the teams choice to go or not.
ReplyDeleteMr Slipman. You may have a valid point but the main aim of the SFSCL is to try and promote this game and their league. All teams should be welcome from wherever they come from. Giving the choice to the teams whether to travel up to Lehigh is something worth thinking about.
Deletethe reason why we didn't come up this week players have family issues not because we don't want to play and having three teams in Lehigh is not the issue we all should be playing and promoting cricket in south Florida for all not just for south Florida but all we have players in Lehigh that can play very good cricket.
ReplyDeleteHopefully Takers can comeback strong for next season. The SFSCL needs teams to join and not push them away. Lehigh is always a good trip for Hustlers and we always enjoy the hospitality they always provide for visiting teams.

ReplyDeleteGentlemen, it should be: promoting softball in FL/USA not South Florida only. I'm 100% certain we would have done the same if the roles were reversed. Open the door let man come in.
