Hustlers beat Warriors CC in Round 4

The stage was set for another big game for the Hustler squad as they faced the undefeated Warriors CC team in Round 4 yesterday. A good crowd had turned out at the Tamarac Sports Complex to watch both teams in action including the president of the SFSCL.

Warriors won the toss and inserted Hustlers into bat first on a dampish wicket. The Hustler innings got off to a slow start and lost early wickets trying to force the pace as the Warriors bowling attack bowled tight early on.

At the break the Hustler score read a sorry looking 50 for 3 after 13 overs faced.

The next 12 overs saw another 140 runs added by the Hustler middle order as Mr Classic Ravi 91, Mukesh 22, Basil 22 not out, and The Tall left hander, Deo 16 all go about their business with some ferocious hitting. Ravi as always batted slowly to start with but when it came to accelerate the run flow he did what he does best by finding boundaries all around the park. It was an impressive innings from one of the most consistent batsmen over the years for the Hustler team and it was a shame he couldn't reach his century.

MVP Classic with 91 and 2 for 19.
With a final total of 190 reached by the Hustler batsmen, Warriors knew they would have to get after the Hustlers bowlers early on to keep up with the run rate required.

Key wickets of Shazam, Mahese, Anoop, Mickey, Mustaq, and Wayne in the first 13 overs saw the Warriors total at 81 for 6 at the break. The bowling attack for Hustlers was again led brilliantly by Mukesh who snared 5 wickets for 36 runs in his 5. Sanjeev took 2 for 17, Mohan 1 for15, and Ravi finished off his fine all round display with 2 for 19 to see the Warriors team bowled out for 123 in the 19th over.

The Hustler outfielding and catching was again top drawer as they held onto everything hit in the air to back up their bowling efforts. This indeed was another great team performance by Hustlers as they showed that on their day they can compete with the best of teams in the Division and was led fantastically by their skipper Basil who made every call and decision correct to enable his side to win.

We would like to thank everybody who came out to watch the game and support both sides, Warriors for preparing a lovely feast for us to eat, and most importantly Tamarac Sports Complex for allowing us to stay until after 9pm to down a few extra cold ones.

Next week we have no game scheduled as we will be playing our biggest game this saturday night. We will be celebrating our skipper's own half century.

  1. whoever said Hustlers rely on only one batsman to score the runs has just been prove wrong. british gets out and you still have carnage coming from the rest of them. 190 total v warriors is a solid score especially being 50 for 3 at the break. good win guys

    4. Potential was always there on paper but we never managed to put that potential out on the field. I guess our potential for enjoying after game celebrations win or lose was never an issue with us it was always our results. Maybe this season we can push all the other teams all the way now going by the way we have been playing recently.

    5. what happened to the small dark leftie batsman? did he forget how to bat or wha?

    6. Our smaller leftie is going through a bad slump right now but we know he will come good soon. We are not concerned as we got ravi, mike, deo, basil, muks, cliff ,and sanjeev to take care of business in the meantime. Also woodchop is a very dangerous bastman.

    1. No one is judging anyone right now. Give him more time and we will see what he has. Yesterday was not his day against us as our bowlers tied him down with good bowling.

    2. By all accounts he is a top player and came to fl with a big reputation. Everybody can talk up new players but we all know it's what they do over a long peroid of time on how good they really are.
