Walkovers in the leagues on the up......what to do?

Already teams in both divisions are giving an easy 6 points and walkovers to other teams after just 4 weeks of games.
Why are they doing this and what needs to be done to prevent this from happening in the future?

Not only is this sending out the wrong message to everybody on the outside looking at our league but it is impacting other teams from gaining playoff positions.

What are the alternatives?

Do we go back with a 3 division setup and make teams play against teams of their own standard?
Penalise and fine teams points and monetary penalties?
Revert back to 1 division with an eight team playoff scenario?

The 3 division plan was put into place last season and as it turned out, the whole setup was a shambles and defeated the whole purpose of having a third division by letting a team come straight down from the top division to the lower league. BTW......Guess who won that title?

Whatever the fix or anybody with ideas or options, go ahead and speak up. Post away anonymously if you like and air your views.

  1. three divs is the best way forward.

  2. Put whatever you want in place it won't stop. Teams start off with high hopes and after losing a couple games, players get disinterested. Other issues fall into place as well. It's in our DNA wanting to always win. Good luck brother.

    1. a team down south don't even travel out for games and are the walkover kings, they happy to play at home all the time.

    2. that team has been in our div for the last 6 seasons and we have managed to play against them just one time due to walkovers. even when we played them it was at their pitch

  3. One game in div 1 saw a team post over 300 in a 25 over fixture then get bowled out easily. Is this a fair matchup? Only a few years back one batsman individually hit over 200 in a game against a stuggling side. A side got bowled out for 19 not so long ago as well. If there were 3 divs, would these instances have happened?

  4. fining teams ? deducting 1 point ? raising the registration ? why bother ? It is not the league fault teams are not showing up to play. it is the teams themselves that are abusing the league and showing no respect in playing games. whoever is in charge of the team should be made accountable.

  5. Teams who are regular at it should be ban for one season until they can give assurance of playing out the next...

Reinstate the team at a higher refundable registration fee after they complete the season.

Tough but the line has to be drawn.

    1. Banning the teams for one season including everybody on that roster.....not just the team name would be the solution.

  6. Banning teams, players will not fix the issue. The league wants teams to play and promote the game in florida. but with already limited players and teams in our league that would be the worse thing to do. We may never see them again.

  7. Well, it is simple then...include the extra refundable registration for all teams.

If team(s) doesn't have good excuses for giving walkovers, the extra dollars goes to the league. More curry chicken + water. lol

  8. This is a good topic to get my teeth into.
    1. make all new teams joining commit to 2 seasons (they have to pay 2 seasons registration one time).
    2. teams consistently giving walkovers get penalised heavy if they forfeit more than 2 games in 1 season. Fine them, deduct points, and make them help the committee in the florida cup weekend....haha
    3. make them play all their games away from home
    4. send them to lehigh every week
    5. make them support satar and his new umpire school all year around
6 the best punishment would be to have them all run around 199 carrying duck curry for all the fallen stars who never made the fl cup squads

  14. I would say 3 divisions is the way to go to stop the walkovers. The majority voted against it at the AGM and that is why 2 divisions is in place now
