Hustlers 2 pre season Fixtures

This sunday at the World Famous Yard (Lauderhill Middle School), the Hustlers team play against Breakaway and Guyana Heat cricket clubs in a 3 way mini tournament.

With the league season scheduled to start the following sunday, the Hustler players will look to dust off their uniforms and stretch out their aging limbs in preparation for another season in the SFSCL.

The games are scheduled to start at 11 30am meaning the normal late night saturday activities will have to curtail before the sun rises.

All players are to reminded to bring their new season team fees and to bring food and drinks which is always optional or should I say, routine.

Hustlers lose Div 2 Final to Warriors CC

Hustlers with their runner up Trophy
Warriors 200 for7 in 25 overs
Hustlers 163 for 6 in 25 overs

Hustlers lose by 38 runs.

The game itself was played in the right spirit with both teams vying for the Championship Trophy and as it turned out, Warriors batted, fielded, and bowled better collectively than Hustlers to claim the win.

The Hustlers team can still be pleased with the season they had to reach the Final as they played good cricket all the Spring season. It just happened that they left their worse performance for the final and let themselves down. The Hustler players still stayed back after the game to take a few cold ones well into the evening with their followers.

Runners up
During the off season Hustlers will see a few big changes in regards to their playing numbers as some of the players have decided to go elsewhere to play their cricket for other sides. Some new faces are already pencilled into the squad and we will welcome them. We would like to wish them all the best wherever they end up to our leaving players.

Congratulations once again to Manny and his Warriors squad for their win as we now look forward to playing in Div 1 next season.

Ground preparation with a knife on hands and knees !!!

Meanwhile in the other Div final, Hustlers 1 got beaten by a very strong United team.

SFSCL Div 2 Finals Hustler 2 CC v Warriors CC Friendly Banter

After a long regular season in Div 2, the final 2 teams left standing are the young Warriors and the much older and experienced Hustler 2 team.

Word around the South Florida league now favor Warriors as being the winners with the Hustlers team ending up as runners up. As we all know that on Finals Day any team can become victorious and it will all boil down to who makes the least errors on the day.

The players who are selected in their respective teams are expected to give it all in one last game of the season to become Champions.

Warriors will be bringing top batsman of the division Anoop with his opening partner Shazam on sunday with middle order men Mustaq, and Wayne. Their bowling strength consists of Fahron and the Florida Cup Masters winner Mahese backed up by Anoop and Shazam.
Meanwhile, Hustlers have plenty of batting with John, Ravi, Cliff, Mike, Deo, Basil, Mukesh, and Sanjeev all in good form to fight fire with fire.

The Hustler bowling lineup has been firing all season and not to be underestimated too. This game is going to be a classic final.

Who will be victorious? Will it be the much fancied Warriors outfit or will it be the Yard Boys Hustlers 2 CC?

Feel free to post away your thoughts guys.

Ramdin named WI Test captain

Denesh Ramdin, the West Indies wicketkeeper, has been named captain of the Test side and will take over from Darren Sammy, who will remain the T20 captain. This means West Indies have three separate captains for all three formats.

Ramdin's first assignment will be the home series against New Zealand which begins on June 8. He has led the national side in three T20s and an ODI. His experience with Trinidad & Tobago is more extensive with 37 matches at the helm across formats. He has 21 wins under his belt and took T&T to the semi-final of the Regional Four Day Competition this season.

SEMI FINAL - Hustlers II beat Lehigh Indians by 9 wickets

Lehigh v Hustlers 2 CC
The biggest game of the season for Hustlers saw them beat Lehigh Indians by an impressive 9 wickets in the first Div 2 semi final of the SFSCL.

Hustlers won the toss and had no hesitation in putting Lehigh into bat first on a damp batting wicket.

Lehigh started off well running their singles but with their scoring reading on 18, Amar bowled 2 beauties to get rid of both of the openers. With Retesh, bowling tight at the other end, the two of them completed the first 10 overs with Lehigh at only 38 runs scored.

Lehigh then found the bowling of Ravi, Sanjeev, and Mukesh to much to handle as the 3 of them took another 3 wickets and saw Lehigh going to the break with their score at a sorry looking 54 for 6.

Only another 4 overs were bowled after the break before Lehigh were all out for 77.
Sanjeev 4 for 7, Amar 3 for 19, Retesh 2 for 17 and Mukesh 1 for 21 were the chief destroyers with the ball.

Hustlers went to bat knowing that only 3 an over was required and duly set off to make the 77 runs needed in a solid fashion.
John was the only batsman out for 10 as Chris 45 not out and Ravi 20 not out saw their team home after 15 overs.

The most important game of the season for Hustlers saw them put on a magnificent display by their bowlers to bowl out Lehigh for 77 and this was followed up by batting practice for the first 3. Commiserations go out to Lehigh for the loss but they can still hold their heads up high as they showed they are a quickly improving team this season. They played in a winning season for them and shocked a lot of the other teams in the Division by finishing second.

Hustlers will now meet Warriors CC who beat Breakaway CC in the other semi final game. The division final will be in 2 weeks time scheduled to be played at Brian Picolo Park.

Congratulations to our skipper Basil for leading us and manager Derek for putting all the hard work into the season culminating in a Final's appearance for the Hustlers.

Game Highlights

Lehigh 77 all out
Sanjeev 4 for 7
Amar 3 for 19
Retesh 2 for 17

Hustlers 80 for 1
Chris 45 not out
Ravi 20 not out
John 10

Playoff Update from the Hustler Camp

Semi Final Schedule Div 2

Lehigh Indians host Hustlers 2 at Veterans Park

Warriors host Breakaway at Brian Piccolo Park

Preparations for the Hustlers squad is moving along nicely this week with our biggest game of the season against Lehigh Indians CC fast approaching scheduled for this coming Sunday.

Semi final day for all the teams concerned is usually the most competitive game of the season as a loss will mean the end of another season for the losers.

Losing a semi final game is tougher than losing in a final because everybody knows that all your efforts during the season culminate in a one match knockout that can either go your way or dramatically go completely wrong for you. Any team that is fortunate to reach the semi final stage is usually there on merit and there is no weak side to play and all 4 teams stand a good chance of becoming champions of the league. This really is crunch time for all the semi final teams as nobody wants to lose now.

The preparation for the Hustler team is very important to us this time around as we now have to set alarms early, pack snacks earlier, and get our drinks organised well before our usual sunday start time. The biggest problem we will face is when to add ice to our drinks being that it will be such an early start for us. There is nothing worse than having coolers of drink getting warm after all the ice has melted !!

I would also like to take this opportunity to wish Lehigh the best of luck this sunday in our game as they have upset a lot of teams this season with wins over other much fancied teams. They have improved to a level this season where they have now become a very dangerous side and we hope our game against them is played in the true spirit of the game. More importantly, we hope the spectators coming out to watch the game enjoy the spectacle and we can both put on a great game of cricket for them to all enjoy.

Good luck to all the other 4 teams involved in Div 1 as well as Warriors v Breakaway in Div 2.
