Quarter Final Result - Hustlers 2 beat Vikings CC

The Hustlers 2 team put in their best performance of the season so far against Vikings CC to get a comprehensive win against the top side in Zone B yesterday at the quarter final round stage. Nobody thought the H2 team was capable of a victory after struggling most parts of the season with lack of players and bad form but as it turned out, they won when it mattered.

Hustlers lost the toss and were glad that the Vikings skipper sent them into bat first. After a reasonable first 13 overs, the Hustler team had scored 73 for the loss of 1 wicket. Johnno was the batsmen out for 20.

The H2 batsmen knew they would have to post at least another 100 runs in the next 12 overs against the very dangerous Vikings CC batting lineup to stand a chance and as it turned out, they posted another 120 runs with Chris 67, Altaf 49 no, and Ravi 32 batting with skill and power when needed.

Vikings got off to the worst possible start in their run chase as they lost 5 quick wickets upfront. After 10 overs they were at 52 for 6 and apart from one good over they knew that one of their remaining batsman would have to score quickly and big if they were to win.

After the break Vikings lost 2 wickets in one over bowled by Mohan and with that their already slim chance of pulling off a win disappeared. The final wicket was taken in the 19th over by a Cliff and Johnno combo to see Vikings all out with 114 on the board.

The wickets were shared around by the H2 bowling attack of Terry 4 for 40, Mohan 3 for 22, Amar 2 for 16, and Cliff 1 for 14 who all bowled well throughout the game.

The next game scheduled is in 2 weeks time when H2 face Lehigh CC in the division semi final to be played at The Yard.

Match Highlights

Chris 67
Altaf 49 no
Ravi 32
Terry 4 for 40
Mohan 3 for 22
Amar 2 for 16
Cliff 1 for 14

  3. Chris, how on earth the league didn't send two umpires or atleast one for the game? Are these guys for real? The 'jokers' tag posted by someone earlier really suits this them.

  4. The league don't need to send umpires to a QF game if it is played in the right spirit. The league have a shortage of volunteer umpires when it comes to semi finals as it is so let's not even burden them with more headaches.

    1. Well Sir, from what I heard it didn't play in the right spirit, players and team umpires were arguing throughout. FYI, it's a Playoff/knockout game, atleast there should have been one neutral umpire.

I sincerely hope this doesn't happen again

    2. What game is ever played in the right spirit when both teams are in a playoff game?
Friendships are always stretched when things are not going your teams way. That is just regular behaviour in the league.

    5. Deduct another 5 overs for saying our beautiful ground is not worthy of a semi final. Great views of the Turnpike, beautiful manicured pot holes run up for the bowlers, excellent bouncy castle batting wicket, plenty of car parking areas, corner store just across the road, and Hibiscus just 5 mins away.

    1. I can't answer that question just in case my answer incriminates myself. The league have a problem with us ? Really ? Any examples of that ?

  11. ...them steal y'all 3 points, send no league umpire for your 1st playoff game, now them want to take away your home advantage.Something you played for all season. It's time they show you some respect.

    1. rules are in place to be abused and broken. constitution is about as useful as a nasty fart in a elevator !!

    2. There is still plenty of time for lcc to get what they want. Out of principle Hustlers should not give in to their request. They should just give them the game if it changes and tell them all to do what they want with it.

    3. Come on guys.
      It's only a game in a park.
You all think this is real cricket where you need a real pitch? The league allow finals to be played on uncut and unprepared soccer fields which are worse than our ground but that is acceptable. Think about that !!!

    4. The league is upset coz they cant ask our guys to be semi final umpires now. That's why they upset
