SFSCL Update

"A league general meeting (GM ) is scheduled for Saturday, June 1st, 2013 at the Hibiscus Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale starting at 2:00pm.
This is a mandatory meeting as such all teams are expected to have a representative present."

SFSCL

The new season is already on it's way with early season preparations in motion as teams make their mandatory calls to players looking for additions to their own teams.

Talk about town right now involves a 3 division setup for the future which may work out best for all the teams currently involved but is this really the way to go forward for the SFSCL?

Some may say it will work and there are others who will oppose the change just because they are not use to change. The league will have to decide what is the best interest of the league and any future changes will have to be voted by the teams if the 3 division setup comes through.

Whatever the decision, Hustlers 2 will play again hoping to compete against all the sides they face in the summer season next month and most importantly play within the rules win or lose.

Spring Champions

Congratulations to Hurricane CC for becoming Division 1 Champions after they beat United 1.

Berbice CC also became Champions of Division 2 after they beat Vikings CC in a close game.

Both finals were supported well by a big turn out and the celebrations went long into the night with all the spectators having a good time.

The Hustler team management would like to thank all the other team reps/players at the ground looking to poach our players to their teams before the start of the season as per normal off season routine.

First Division teams looking to strengthen up their squad numbers have no consideration for the lesser teams in Division 2. It is always nice to be recognised by other teams and there is no harm in asking players if they are available but to do it on the quiet thinking that nobody will know is always going to be a joke, especially in the SFSCL.

Loyalty and respect are virtues some teams need to practice........

Hustlers give Starlite walkover in round 11

Hustlers 2 CC have given Starlite CC a walkover in this weeks scheduled league game as their season comes to a premature end with availability of players very poor for sunday.

We would like to wish Hustler 1 the best of luck in their semi final game to be played this sunday against United 1 at Jaycee Park and Hurricanes and Outlaws in the other semi final in Div 1.

IPL Batsman of the Day.....MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni hit 45 off 16 balls as Super Kings downed Warriors by 37 runs in Pune.

Sweep shots, pulls to mid wicket, over extra cover, and straight hits over long off were all to be seen from Dhoni's bat in his innings.

His 20/20 game is at it's peak right now.

Congrats on a brilliant cameo knock MSD.

Hustlers well beaten by Diamond CC

In an important game for both sides in Round 10 of the SFSCL, Hustlers well and truly took a sound beating by the homeside D Diamond CC.

Diamond struggled early on when batting first but good contributions came from Boey, Kumar, and Ken which led them to a score of 208 in their 25 overs.

Hustlers got off to the worst possible start as they lost Cliff in the first over. Chris shortly followed and then Mohan and Basil all fell before the scheduled break. Ravi also went by the 13th over.

After the break, pure carnage entailed as we saw a procession of Hustler batsmen making their way back to the sidelines.

Tribene managed an all bowled hat trick thus seeing the end of the Hustlers innings. Their score was a season low of 85 all out.

All in all it was a very dissapointing display by Hustlers 2 as they once again struggled with the ball when bowling except for part time bowler Cliff who grabbed 3 wickets for 18 runs in 4 overs.

Hustler have one more game to play against Starlite CC next week in their final league game of the season.

D Diamond CC

Lindsey Ewing Park

Start
12 30pm

The Hustlers squad head out to West Palm Beach this sunday in their next league fixture.

Having lost 3 games mid season and making their playoff position chances very slim, they hope to carry on with another strong performance after back to back wins against both Raiders CC and Guyana Heat CC.

Hustlers will look to finish their season on a high starting firstly against D Diamond and then against Starlite CC next week in their last scheduled regular season game.

Hustlers cool off Guyana's Heat in Round 9

Guyana Heat

177 all out
Terry 4 for 24

Hustlers 2

180 for 3
Ravi 67
Cliff 50 not out
Deo 38

Hustlers won the toss and sent in Guyana Heat to bat first and were soon thinking if they had made the right decision.
Guyana Heat's batsmen set off scoring quickly and at the break they were sitting pretty at 82 for 2.

Shortly after the innings resumption, the Hustlers bowlers started to find their line and length with Terry bowling superbly. He took 4 good wickets in 4 overs for only 24 runs which meant Guyana Heat's innings closed at 177 all out.

Hustlers went to bat and soon lost opener Chris with the score on 27 but cometh the hour cometh the batting specilists Cliff and Ravi as they went about the run chase with some sweet hitting. At the halfway stage they were sitting nicely on 112 for 1. Ravi soon departed for a well constructed 67 with the score at 133. Deo came to bat and quickly fired up his bat and stroked a quickfire 38 to put the game out of reach for Guyana Heat. Cliff reached his 50 with a six over mid wicket to see his side home in the 23rd over.

It was a good batting performance by the top order batsmen for Hustlers as Ravi, Cliff, and then Deo made the run chase look easy.

Best bowler was once again Terry.

Next week game see the Hustlers venture out to West Palm Beach to meet D Diamond CC

Guyana Heat CC8260-11150.00
Starlite CC8350-18

Lehigh Indians CC8170-6

Renegades CC8170-6--

The above table is the correct standings in Division 2 so far this season. The SFSCL league table has Berbice at 2nd postion with 6 wins and 2 losses but that is wrong as they have lost 3 games against Vikings, Guyana Heat, and Miami Royals. The league website is inaccurate as per usual.

It's pretty simple guys or whoever is in charge of our league website. 5 wins multiplied by 6 points for a win is 30.

The Diamond and Warriors result is still pending after a week of the game being finished for some reason or another. Maybe the reason is the scoresheet was late going in, or maybe the game broke up due to not enough food and drinks being supplied for the teams, or rain stopped play during the heatwave with temperatures reaching the high 80's with the sun blazing, or Stevie Wonder was umpiring and missed alot of the cleaned bowled decisions. Either way that game and who gets the points is still being deliberated.

Hustlers next game Round 9

Against
Guyana Heat

Venue
Lauderhill Middle School

Start
12 30pm

Hustlers next meet Guyana Heat CC in their next game after beating the undefeated Raiders team last week.

This game is an important one for Hustlers as nothing else but a victory is required if they harbour any playoff ambitions this season.

All the Hustler players are to be reminded that no drinking late saturday night, no clubbing, no bar hopping, or late nights are permitted.

Somehow I think we have more chance of finding Elvis Presley alive serving food at the local IHop than that happening......

The table above shows 3 Hustler batsmen in the top 10 listing of best batsmen so far after 8 rounds played in the Spring season.

Ravi, Cliff, and Chris have all scored runs at various stages of the season and with only 3 more regular season games to go, the three of them would like to add to their run aggregate accumalated so far and push their side to an outside shot of a playoff position.

If the results favour the side over the next 3 weeks then they could sneak in a number 4 spot by the back door.

Either way, the Hustler team will have to step up from their past performances and look to win out for the rest of the season starting this sunday against Guyana Heat. This is a big task for the Hustler team but stranger things have happened as teams all vie for that playoff position.

IPL Picture of the Day........Mr Kieron Pollard

Kieron Pollard was bowled for 1 as Rajasthan Royals thumped Mumbai Indians by 87 runs.

Pollard showing all that if you don't move you feet early on in an innings expect this to happen and see your middle stump flat out on it's back.

Pollard also needs to realise that not every bowler is cannon fodder for him.

News from Div 1

Five games were scheduled for Div 1 yesterday out of which 3 teams gave 3 sides walkovers.

Now how is this in the best interest of promoting softball cricket in South Florida when Div 1 teams grant walkovers towards the end of the season when they have nothing to play for?

The biggest news was hearing Hustlers 1 getting a bowled out from the United 1 squad.

Hustler 1 were out for a sorry looking 29 all out.

Is this some sort of record in the SFSCL for lowest score made?

Feel free to comment if you have heard of any lower scores.

Hustlers beat Raiders CC in Round 8

Hustlers

241 for 2 off 25 overs
Ravi 107 not out
Cliff 88
Chris 19

Raiders CC

231 for 6 off 25 overs
Raj 62
Muni 43
Devin 30

Hustlers upset the form book earlier today with a hard fought victory against the undefeated Raiders squad.

Having been put into bat by Raiders, the Hustlers batsmen posted a score of 241 for 2 in their 25 overs faced.

Ravi 107 not out and Cliff 88 set about the Raiders bowling with an aggresive partnership of 204 which seemed to be a winning score. They both batted beautifully and sensibly with some big hitting during their partnership. Cliff fell short of a deserved century but Ravi reached his in the 24th over with a straight drive over the mid on boundary for six. Cliff's 88 was an equalling career high for him.

Raiders came out to bat with other intentions and quickly scored at the required rate.

It all came down to Raiders needing 23 off the last over but they fell short by 11 runs and Hustlers getting the win and 6 points. Mohan bowled the last over with greater control than he had earlier in the day to redeem his below average bowling effort earlier in the innings.
Terry was once again the best bowler for Hustlers who was backed up by the man of the match Ravi who bowled 5 miserly overs for 26 runs. Amar also chimed in with 5 magnificent overs of his own even though he finished wicketless.

Michael in the outfield was superb with some great ground fielding and a match winning catch on the run at deep mid wicket which put Hustlers back in the game when all seemed lost.

Generally is was a good performance by the Hustler team to get the win and they once again showed that when their backs are against the wall they will always come out fighting just to prove to a lot of outsiders that this team is an even match to any team in this league. Their consistency is the only thing letting them down this season.

Hustlers season is now prolonged for another week after their latest win and next week they will face Guyana Heat at 19th street in another must win game for them.

IPL Clown of the Day......RP Singh

RP Singh bowled a no ball to hand victory in the most recent IPL game against Chennai Super Kings earlier today.

Chennai needed 2 runs off the last ball of the innings to win but RP Singh gave them a helping hand as he overstepped the bowling crease to give CSK the win.

Get your run up correct next time brother.

Mr RP Singh welcome to the Clown club.......

IPL Batsman of the Day..........Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle in action for RCB against KKKR where he smashed 85 runs not out in their comprehensive run chase to win their latest IPL game.

Gayle hit 9 sixes and 4 fours in his innings off only 50 balls faced.

Gayle Force is another cricketing great who revels in the short form of the game where most boundaries are not far enough for him.

Mr Gayle thanks for the cricket entertainment once again.

Hustlers 2 drop down the league table after their most recent loss to Takers CC.

They will be now hoping for some favourable results with the teams above them and to also win out for the rest of the season.

It won't be an easy run in to the final game for the Hustler team but miracles and prayers are always out there to be answered.
