Florida Cup News 2013

Allstars Competition Final
East Coast beat NYSCL

Masters Competiton Final
FSCA beat Betterhope

The Florida Cup completed after 3 days of top class cricket with 2 new Champions in both competitions.

The SFSCL Allstars were knocked out in the semi final when they came up against NYSCL while the SFSCL Masters team got eliminated in the group stages as both teams came short and were not able to defend their Championships.

The surprising team of the whole tournament was found in the Masters Competition  led by Hustler 2 player Amar, as the SCI team reached the semi final with good wins in the group stages against Georgia and Orlando.

The team made up for their lack of skills with good team unity and playing to their max with good individual performances coming from Mack, Anthony, Ramesh, Amar, Ram throughout the tournament.

After shocking Orlando in their last group game and chasing down 180 to win they knocked out the SFSCL Masters team for a semi final position where they were then outplayed by a very strong Betterhope team.

The SFI squad all enjoyed the 3 day tournament and went home happy knowing they did their best to reach the semi finals. All the players overcame the underdog tag they were given and looked forward to a good rest to ease all the aches and pains they accrued over the 3 days through 4 games they had to play with a depleted squad number.

Next week sunday it is back to league action as Hustlers 2 take on Berbice CC at 199th street.

  2. The problem was not the batsmen in the squad.....the problem was they didn't have any bowlers to stop the scoring. Thats why they lost. 4 proper batsmen with 4 strong allrounders and 3 bowlers is what they needed to win. Not 10 batmsmen and half a bowler......garbage team with no thinking. The people who put this team together deserve to lose.....

  3. Come on guys be nice. Everybody has an opinion and anyone can be heard after the fact but seeing our Master team fail hurts us all. Hopefully next time they get it right.

  4. English you did well with the team Amar put together last minute. I watched all your games and everybody seemed to be on the same side with no problems. I was shocked your side went to the semi finals but you all outplayed yourselves and desrve that spot.

  5. One day the league will get it right whenthey pick their teams. Stats should help the selection but the captain needs to be blamed for picking half his team from hustlers when there are better players out there.

  6. 10 teams in the Masters groups at $700 per team = $7000. 6 in the Allstar comp at $900 per team = $5400
    Grand total $13400.
Watching SFSCL Masters go out in the group games = PRICELESS
