The Yaadboyz won the toss and asked the Lightning to take first hit at the Yard that looked surprisingly dry from the early morning rain. Liquids being absorbed at the Yard with no dramas is normality thesedays hence the dry outfield, I guess !!!!
As the watching spectators settled into seats to watch the game, they soon saw the Lightning openers getting off to a sluggish and slow start courtesy of a fine opening bowling spell from both Rudy and Slim. With runs being scarce to accumalate, the Lightning batsmen started to take risks and lost 3 quick wickets with the best one being Dillion's superb run out of top batsman Tarik. Not only did Tarik chance a risky second run to the youngest Yaadboy on the field, but he was not even in the frame as he was run out by a country mile.
Dillon after his superb run out against the Fl Lightning |
The Yaadboyz opening pair of Johnno and Rocky set about the 161 score at an alarming rate with Rocky being the aggressor with boundaries disappearing to all parts of the Yard off his bat. Johnno was simply giving the strike to Rocky as every bowler the Lightning brought on took some serious tap as he raced to a quickfire 118 all within 11 overs as the run chase ended in style with a reverse sweep for four all before the 13th over break.
Sheer carnage was witnessed by everybody at the Yard as Rocky took on everything the Lightning bowlers threw at him. They just never expected to see their best balls vanish way into the sunset without any trace of finding them again.
An early finish meant only one thing for the Yaadboyz.........a longer drink.
It was good to share a story and a drink with the Lightning players after the game was over and we wish them all well for the remainder of the season.
Next week the Yaadboyz take on Warriors CC at Tamarac Rec in Rd 3.
