Yaadboyz CC beat Warriors Round 3

After a long vacation, retirement and born again reincarnation procedure by the British Admin, Yaadboyz CC blog is back, bigger, better, and still not sober for more reporting on our recent Fall season escapades in the SFSCL.

The first 2 games of the Fall season saw us beat Wildfire in round 1 and share the points against Berbice CC in a rain interrupted game in round 2.

Round 3 saw the Yaadboyz up against the unpredictable Warriors CC team who themselves had started the Fall season well.

Skipper Basil won the toss and invited Warriors to have a bat first in sweltering conditions with the temp in the high 80's. Not only was this a masterstroke decision by the captain but it also proved a major factor in allowing the beers to chill longer than normal. It was a great call by our skip as the beers went down a treat later in the afternoon at the perfectly chilled correct temperature.

Warriors found the express bowling of Zaheer too hot for them to handle and lost wickets upfront regulary. Retesh and Bayo bowled accurately to stifle the run flow and Ravi bowling his deceptive legside long hops took a decisive wicket to see Warriors all out for  low score of 70 in the 16th over. The outfielding showed signs of improvement with good catches taken and a run out that Johnno did well to complete.Cliffy, always with plenty of constructive ideas to voice to the bowlers and skipper, showed glimpses of his youth returning back with excellent stops in the outfield. Altaf remained on the mid wicket boundary all day keeping the fence company as hardly anything ended up near him. I guess he enjoyed the view from the boundary edge thinking about his first beer for the day instead to keep him busy.

One Warrior batsmen, (who shall remain anonymous to save face), decided batting against the hostile Zaheer was not a good idea and was better off retiring hurt rather than facing another nut cracker. He did make an appearance after the game end with normal colours returning back to his face. He seemed well enough to take a beer or two to ease his pains even though he was still walking leaning to the right side. Presumably it was his left side that got cracked. Zaheer 1 Nuts 0 !!!!

Use your bat next time......that's what it's meant for !!!!
The Yaadboyz knocked the required runs off with no issues. Johnno and Ravi batted sensibly as they scored 24 and 17 each. Some solid hitting at the end by Slim and Altaf saw the Yaadboyz take the win and start the celebratory drinking early o'clock.

We would like to thank Sal and his team for hosting us and enjoyed the food he provided as well as a cooler that we did our best to polish off for him. We would like to wish his team all the best for the remainder of the season. Sticking together when you lose regulary is hard but we have been doing that for many years now. Play together, win together, lose together, but more importantly have fun together. If you can follow these simple steps, then the rewards will come eventually, if not then it's best you go find an alternative sunday hobby.

Thanks again to our scorer Satti for a job well done as per usual.

Next week we are off to Lehigh against the Indians looking forward to a fun filled roadtrip and catching up with the Lehigh gang in round 4 of the SFSCL season.

Yaadboyz CC lose v Berbice CC in Round 1

Yaadboyz lost their first league fixture of the summer season against Berbice CC last sunday.

Not much to report except that the Yaadboyz made 124 batting first and Berbice made the runs in the final over. Highlights were very few apart from the usual drinking and staying out late on sunday night that summed up a normal sunday for the Yaddboyz to kick off the new season with.

Being that the Memorial Weekend is this week and no league games scheduled, the Yaadboyz will be playing in a 4 way comp involving Breakaway, Warriors, and Guyana Heat at Willie Webb Park.

Much food, drinks (soft and hard), music, dancing, eating, shouting, screaming, crying, playing, and sleeping under trees will be there in abundance.

Everybody is welcome to come out and enjoy a fun filled day at Willie Webb and support all 4 teams as they compete in the inaugural Memorial Cup on behalf of Warriors CC player Mahesh Bisson's late father.

Games start at 10am Sunday with hangovers carrying on until late monday afternoon.

SCI at the Florida Cup 2015

SCI 2015
The SCI squad tried their hardest in the Florida Cup this past weekend but came up short against 3 very good sides in their group. New York, SFSCL, and Orlando all beat the SCI squad in the 20 over competition meaning that any chance of a semi final appearance was ended in the morning of day 2.

Even though we fell well short of competing against the better teams, we still managed to play the game in the right spirit, enjoyed catching up with old friends, and more importantly were still able to play the game with a smile all weekend.

The Allstar Champions were Zameers Allstars and in the Master competition the Betterhope team gained revenge from last year by beating the SFSCL league.

Hustlers beat Vikings CC

Hustlers 237 for 9
Vikings 161 all out

Hustlers won their last regular season game against the very much younger, Vikings CC team yesterday to finish with 3 wins for the Spring season. The 3 wins was not enough to see them reach the playoff stage and the Hustlers now have a month off to regroup and drink a few more beers in their downtime before the summer season commences.

The Yard
Not sure if Ravi has this shot in his locker anymore but it still looks good in practice.
Cliffy adjusting and ready for some sweep action

Hustlers win against Warriors

Warriors
149 all out

Hustlers
150 for 6

Hustlers finally got their second win of the season against the younger Warriors side yesterday.

Warriors batted first first and were bowled out for 149 with birthday boy, Retesh, the best bowler for Hustlers with figures of 4 for 24. Ravi claimed 3 cheap wickets as well as Mohan. The most unlucky bowler was once again the dangerous, Bayo.

With a relatively small total to chase, Hustlers soon found themselves in trouble once again with 3 quick wickets gone with not more than 25 on the board. More wickets tumbled at one end with only Ravi making batting look easy as he raced to a fluent 50 plus score. With 5 wickets gone Chris came to the wicket batting at number 7 and went about scoring a quickfire 27. He was the last man out before Bayo and Ravi scored the winning runs to see H2 home and win by 5 wickets.

The much talked about long batting lineup for Hustlers 2 maybe on paper a good statement to make but in reality the tail has been starting as early as the number 4 batsman is out recently. Batsmen need to stop giving their wickets away with loose shots if this H2 outfit is going to get back to their winning ways. Far too long now, the experienced batsmen are all throwing their wickets away playing reckless shots and then finding an excuse to blame everything else rather than looking at the reason why they are getting themselves out on a regular basis. It's about time the middle order start showing up sooner rather than later and start scoring runs in a consistent manner for this team to improve on this seasons dismal performances. At present a lot of the batsmen are out of form or are batting with reckless abandonement with no plan on how to accumalate an innings score.

Next week H2 face Vikings CC in their final game of the season at the Yard.

Highlights
Ravi 67 not out
Chris 27
Retesh 4 for 24

SCI in Orlando Cup 2015 Update

SCI Squad
The SCI squad performed well in Orlando this last weekend and came back as all time Champions in various categories.

They came away as Champions of the team that went to bed last, the Champion team that closed down  bars, the Champion team that beat the dance floor, as well as the Champion team that enjoyed the trip the most.

Overall it was an enjoyable 3 day comp that went well except for the small matter of the results. Played 3 won 1 and lost 2 was the final outcome for the SCI squad.
Even though we did not advance out of the group stages, we all managed to accomplish what we intended, which was to play and promote the game in it's best interests as well as bringing the SCI good name to Orlando. Not only did we do all of this but we all had great fun with players catching up on old friends and family and sharing a good joke or two.

We would like to thank the Orlando Cricket league for allowing us to compete in their competition and wish them all the best for future tournaments as well as our very own Amar Singh for all the hard work he went through for the last 6 months trying to organise his squad of players.

H2 lose at Krishnar CC in Round 3

Hustler 2 lost their last league game against a very competitive Krishnar CC team yesterday in a low scoring game.

Hustlers batted first and were soon in big trouble as they lost their first 4 batsmen with only 7 runs on the board due to batsmen playing poor strokes and bowlers bowling well.

A mini recovery unsued with H2 reaching 51 for 5 at the break.
The only batsman for H2 who was worthy of a mention was Altaf who made a quickfire 69 before the innings came to an end at 115 all out.

Krishnar CC started off the run chase slowly and were soon batting themselves into trouble with only 43 on the board and 3 wickets gone by the 13th over. Even though the runs total was not an enormous one, the Krishnar batters were made to work hard for the total with some outstanding bowling from Retesh and Terry. A couple of close run outs went the Krishnar way as they finally got to the winning score in the final over with 3 deliveries left with their last 2 batsmen at the wicket.

It was an exciting game to be involved in even though the match result did not go our way.

Next week we face Diamond CC in West Palm Beach.

Hustlers 2 beat Unlimited Round 1

H2 enjoying a little after game refreshment.
Hustlers 2 CC met Unlimited CC in round 1 of the SFSCL yesterday and came away with a comprehensive win.

Having won the toss, H2 asked Unlimited to bat first and were soon found themselves in trouble losing wickets all too frequently. The 13th over break saw Unlimited score at 54 for the loss of 5 wickets.

Shortly after the resumption, the Unlimited batsmen all found the slow turning spin of returning Hustler Nick too much for them as he finished with impressive match figures of 4 for 14 off his 5 completed overs.

Terry, Retesh, Suresh and Amar all bowled well also and restricted the Unlimited score to 75 all out.

H2 reached their target for the loss of 2 wickets with Ravi 52 the top scorer in the run chase. Just in case anybody was wondering about Johnno......he is currently batting and not out still.

A vast selection for the H2 players to taste after the game.

Next weeks game is at the Yard against Renegades CC in round 2.

Match Highlights

Nick 4 for 16
Amar 2 for 10
Terry 2 for 15
Retesh 1 for 7

West Indies Interesting Stats

1-47 West Indies' win-loss record in overseas Tests, excluding matches in Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, since November 2000. Their only win during this period has come against South Africa, in Port Elizabeth in 2007. However, they've also lost seven out of 10 Tests there. In Australia they've lost 10 out of 11, and in England 11 out of 13.

60.56 West Indies' bowling average in the series; their batting average was 24.48. The difference between the two - of 36.08 - is their worst in a series in South Africa. The previous poorest was 32.37 (batting average 34.94, bowling average 67.31) in the 2003-04 series.

18.20 Shivnarine Chanderpaul's average in the series (91 runs in five innings), his poorest since the tour to New Zealand in 2006, when he scored 74 runs in five innings at an average of 14.80.

Can it get any worse ?
